Runway Inspired

When I saw this photo on the Runway Inspired blog I instantly had a design idea pop into my head.  Actually getting that idea to work on paper was a whole other story.  But I just love this dress so much I decided to upload the card even though it fell a little short of my vision.

Some tree branches from a Hero Arts Silhouette cut file called Skeleton Tree, tulle, ribbon and a vellum sentiment all went into the making of the card.

I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamptember Challenge which requires you to use something from the Simon Says store.

WPlus9 and A Blog Named Hero

This week we are showcasing WPlus9 and Hero Arts products at A Blog Named Hero.

If you're not familiar with WPlus9, it was founded by Dawn and carries high quality clear stamps, dies, inks, paper and more.

Today I used the Fresh Cut Florals stamp set and matching dies.  The flower images are designed to layer on top of one another so each individual element can be inked up in a different colour.  It's a great flower building system that allows for endless possibilities.

Don't you just love the pretty flowers set against the stamped mirror frame?

I used Tim Holtz Ideology Mirrored Sheets.  It's my first time using it and I have to say it's a fabulous product.  The only negative about it, is that it's hard to photograph because it is a mirror and reflects everything in its path. Hence, the visible body parts and such :)

I die cut a window with a wafer die, not a steel rule die which is recommended by the manufacturer.  I ran the wafer die 4 times through my Vagabond and it did not cut all the way through but it was attached only in a few spots that was easily cut with a pair of scissors.  I then stamped the Leaf & Floral background with white Stazon onto the mirror.

Here's a shot from another angle, including some more body parts :)

Please stop by ABNH all week to see the fabulous projects created by the rest of the team.

Make A Set at A Blog Named Hero

There's a new challenge up at A Blog Named Hero and we're making sets of three.  A set of at least 3 cards that go together by theme or design.

P1200043c

When I make sets of cards it's usually to give as a gift to someone and I tend to make 5 cards that cover birthday, sympathy, thanks, get well and thinking of you.

When I design the card I like to keep it fairly simple and use the same design for each card but with different colours.  I also make sure that the card is not too bulky so that it can fit into a standard envelope and not need extra postage.

I did some simple stamping with Shadow Inks for the Floral Blossom image and clear embossed the Woodgrain stamp on coloured strips of card stock.  I added a thin strip of black corrugated paper for some extra texture and definition and finished off with Stickles, Enamel Accents and smooth gems.
