3rd Tag for Simon Says

Here's my final tag for the Simon Says Challenge.
I white embossed the image on glossy paper, coloured over everything with Alcohol inks and then lightly sanded the image. It gives a cool distressed look.

Have a great evening!

Simon Says - Tag #2

Another tag for the Simon Says tag challenge.
The background was made by stamping the image in Versamark and colouring over it with Hero Arts Shadow Ink and the fern was stamped twice for a shadow effect.

Simon Says...Tags

This weeks challenger over at Simon Says is to make a tag. I find that tags are always fun to make because they're smaller, there's less space to deal with!

I used some Hero Arts stamps and  PanPastels on this tag, simple and cheery!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Patterned Paper

I love patterned paper, from afar that is! There are so many pretty ones out there but you'll rarely see any on my cards. Why? Because they kind of scare me. I just don't know how to incorporate them with my stamping onto cards so I stopped buying them.

I saw that Lily Pad Cards was having a challenge that required the use of patterened paper and I decided that I would enter a card no matter what. I broke out in a cold sweat just thinking about it and yes it stressed me out a wee bit but I did finally make a card.
I have to say I'm pretty pleased with my patterned paper adventure and maybe went a bit overboard using 4 different papers. That's a record for me!

I thought this would make a nice "Congrats on Your New Home" card. I used the Cloud and Modern Landscape Dies from Memory Box, a Spirelli Punch for the sun and the sentiment is a stamp from Hero Arts. I have no idea who made these papers, they have been in my stash for ages.

Play Date Cafe

The Play Date Cafe has a great new challenge. Black and white with a splash of hot pink.
I love black and white challenges and todays card is mostly black.
On PTI Smokey Shadow paper I stamped Impression Obsessions Damask background with black ink. I used the Pepita Border from Memory Box for my splash of hot pink and used some Nesties for my sentiment.

Runway Inspired

When I saw this photo for the Runway Inspired Challenge I immediately had two great ideas pop into my head.

Sadly, sometimes these ideas just don't turn out as expected on paper. No matter how much you play around with it, it just doesn't work.

So I came up with this card instead.
I took some pearlized paper that has a bit of texture and added shimmery and gauzy ribbon that was woven where the pieces cross. I added the sentiment with Versafine Smokey Gray ink, to keep the look very soft.

Hubby Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Here's a peek at the card I'm giving my husband tonight! Shhhh, don't tell him!
I was inspired by a card and video called Heart Tuckaway from Dave Brethauer of Memory Box. This card has a unique fold so when you open the card it looks like this.
I used a Spellbinders Labels One die and partially cut out the shape on my card front and this is what allows the card to open and close. It sort of acts like a hinge. Here's a closeup.
If you noticed, on the second panel I made a pocket to hold a gift card that my hubby can use at the bookstore. He loves to read.

I had such fun making this card and this design can be adapted to any holiday or special occasion with whatever die you fancy and the great thing is this card is the same size as a regular card, 5.5 x 4.25, no extra postage required.

To watch Dave's video and to get all the measurements check out his blog here.

I'm also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Challenge Love Is In the Air.

Wishing you a sweet day!

Play Date Cafe

As soon as I saw the colours for this weeks challenge at The Play Date Cafe I knew I had to play.
The colours are so rich and elegant and that beautiful clutch made me think of a damask pattern.
For my background I used Impression Obsessions Damask Stamp. I inked it with Versamark, stamped it on white cardstock and coloured it with Pan Pastels, a chalk-like product.

I used Papertrey Inks Fillable Frames #10 die and stamp, and a sentiment from their Communique Curves Sentiments. I added some ribbon, a wee butterfly and a few gems.

Hero Arts Challenge

This month there are a few themes to choose from for Hero Arts monthly challenge.

I made a happy card for a friend.
Supplies: Hero Arts Stamps (Envelope Pattern, Everyday Sayings), Ink (Memento Summer Sky, Versafine Onyx Black), Hero Arts Digital Kit (Doodle Daisy), Paper (K & Company, Neenah Solar White), MFT Die (Fresh Cut Grass), Recollections Flower Brad

I used digital elements and traditional stamping on this card. The background (which is pretty hard to see) is Hero Arts Envelope Pattern stamped in light blue ink and the sentiment is from the Everyday Sayings stamp set.

The flower is a digital image from the Doodle Daisy kit. I printed off a bunch of the design on different shades of pink cardstock, cut them out and layered them to create a big bloom. I also used a couple of the petals to make the leaves.

I added ribbon for a stem and made two layers of the grass which was die cut.

There's still plenty of time to join in the challenge and you could win some fabulous prizes!
